Live well with pain clinic dates 2024/2025

Do you live with a long term health condition which causes you pain? If so there are some local sessions being held over the coming months at Ashbourne and Wirksworth to offer help and support.

  • The sessions are free.
  • They are relaxed, non-judgmental sessions where you can access peer support in your community.
  • The focus is on finding positive ways forward in self-managing long-term conditions which cause pain.
  • Anyone with a long-term health condition which cause pain are welcome to the sessions.
  • We don’t advise on medications or treatments and won’t discuss these with your healthcare professional as the sessions are confidential.

Please let the team know you are attending by emailing or calling in advance as we anticipate that these will be popular sessions – details below.

No Heating at the surgery

We are advising anyone who is attending the surgery over the coming days to dress warmly as we currently have no central heating.

Please be assured the building is safe and the leak has been isolated.

We are in communication with suppliers and the landlords to resolve the issue but anticipate that it will unfortunately, not be a “quick fix”!

If you are attending then surgery then you are welcome to wait in your car rather than our Reception area.

Please check in as normal at Reception to let us know you are here for your appointment and let them know that you will wait in your car.

The clinician will then call our mobile when they are ready for you.

Road works starting next week

We have been informed that the road to the practice will remain open but that there will be a one way system in place. Patients will have to turn right when leaving the car park and drive along Church lane and Pools Head lane to re join the A52.

We also anticipate that there will be limited road parking during this time.

As an alternative where possible patients are able to park at the “Brailsford & Ednaston Institute” (Main Road, Brailsford, DE6 3DA) and walk to the practice. This is along the main road about 10 mins walk.

We will post regular updates on progress and any changes.

Covid Autumn Booster

To book an appointment call 119 or book online. Our local vaccination centre is The Surgery at Clifton Road.

There is limited “walk in” capacity at these clinics.

Please do not call the surgeries to book appointments.

Shingles Vaccine update September 2023

There has been alot of confusion regarding recent changes to eligibility criteria for the shingles vaccine.

The new criteria state that those turning 65 AFTER 1st September 2023 will be eligible after their 65th birthday.

This does not mean those people already 65 before 1st September.

Patient 1 – turns 65 on the 1.10.23 will be eligible to have the vaccine from 1.10.23.

Patient 2 – turned 65 on the 30.8.23 will be eligible for the vaccine when they turn 70.

This is an NHS and Government directive and not down to practice policy so therefore cannot be overridden by the practice.

Please check with the Reception team or Practice nurse if you are unsure if you are eligible or not.

Please see our shingles webpage for further info and links for further reading/websites.

Flu Vaccines 2023/2024

Saturday 30th September 8am- 2pm – any aged eligible patient

Text message and email invites have been sent out to eligible patients.

If you have not been invited and think you are eligible for a free vaccine then please contact the surgery or ask us when you next come in.
